In 1995, Gary Matthews left a lucrative job in corporate America to embark on a total new career in ethnic and diversity communications, as well as develop internships for students of color in the sports media relations field. As a former Sports reporter Gary feels minorities need to become more involved in providing information about ethnic market. “I feel long-term success of African-Americans as well as other ethnic groups depends on our ability to build a team as well as a future that reflects togetherness as it relates to information on our community and in sports media services.” Gary started (ETC), which is the gateway to over 802 weekly newspapers with 15 million readers, 210 urban radio stations and many ethnic trade publications. Its 1.6 million square foot state-of-the-art sports and entertainment facility with the cost of 250 millins budgets to be located on Smith Road off the I-94 Vining Road exit. A 14,000 seat arena with 19 luxury suites Three basketball courts, four hockey rinks, a running track, indoor lacrosse area and a fitness area Leisure and lap pools and a wave surf pool, Two IMAX movie theaters, An education and technology center Banquet hall, Child care center, Arcade Bowling alley, Rehabilitation center, and two Hotel. There will be six build of its kind in the next 12 years. The facility is expected to create 1,200 new jobs over a three year period. Metro Sports Center, LLC plans to break ground in the fall of 2008. Gary Matthews serve in the past a Board Member of Brown’s Community Outreach which is a non-profit 501 (c) organization. The mission is to provide year-around overnight emergency shelter and homeless supportive services to men, women and families with children in Baltimore City without discrimination. We have been serving the communities of Baltimore City metropolitan area since 1986. The 7,000 sq. ft. facility with a capacity of 85 emergency beds is located in the Northwest Corridor of Baltimore City. Brown’s Community Outreach is the only emergency shelter in the Baltimore City metropolitan area, which accepts intact families with children experiencing economic and housing crisis. Our diverse population consist women experiencing chronic homelessness, displaced families with children, victims and their children of domestic violence, veterans and seniors, men and women with chronic mental health disorders, men and women with substance abuse addictions, cancer and other life threatening illnesses, ex-offenders and parolees, and displaced families whose income does not exceed 30% of the median income for Baltimore City.
